The Climate is Changing and So Must Care
Across BC, climate change is already affecting how care is delivered. From extreme weather and wildfires to flooding that disrupts services, these events also increase health risks like heat-related illness, respiratory conditions and mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety and trauma*.
At the same time, health care contributes to the problem. Health systems account for more than 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions*. This creates both a responsibility and an opportunity to lead change from within by improving care while reducing harm.
What You Can Do
Health care professionals are well positioned to reduce the environmental costs of how we deliver care. By making small changes to clinical practice, influencing system decisions and supporting sustainable standards, you can help ensure high-quality care today and for the future.
