Emma Riek
Leader, Capability Development, Learning & Analytics
Emma joined Health Quality BC in January 2025 as a Leader with the Learning and Capability Development team, where she works primarily on the Quality Academy program.
Prior to joining HQBC, Emma worked at UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in various roles, including as the manager of the Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy Program and, most recently, as an academic advisor. Here, she developed a passion for leveraging effective programming and resources to help learners thrive, along with a robust skill set in project management, workshop facilitation, and writing.
Emma holds a Master of Arts degree in English with a research focus in Science and Technology Studies. During her studies, she had the opportunity to complete instructional skills training and write a thesis focused on the rhetoric of health and medicine. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature (Honours) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys trying new workout classes, learning the ukulele, and starting more crochet projects than she can finish. She also takes way too many photos of her cat, Matt.
